Eye can’t believe it….knee’s up Charlie Brown….

Been a while since we posted but we have been busy, as we are sure you all have been too!  Last Monday was what we are hoping was Cate’s second to last check up at the Atlantic Vet school here in Charlottetown.  After the drip eye test and the lens test and the eye pressure tests it looks like she’s on her way to better eye sight…down to once a day steroid drops from 4 times a day.

We have said great things about the College but after this pressure test the vet, Dr. Ling got some treats and got on the floor with Cate and Jack and made friends…..even scaredy pants Jack came out from under the chairs to partake, this is a great ending to a check up that can be stressful on everyone.

Then there’s time to just catch a flight back west to prepare for Ewen’s right knee surgery on Wednesday.  You always hope things go well from catching the right flights, to not getting sick pre-op to making sure you make all the pre-op appts. that were made by phone a week earlier and voila it all comes together and we’re off and limping.

It’s not like surgery isn’t a right of passage or something new to most of us but it always seems to be “only about me” when the time comes.  And the time went and now Ewen is sitting in Kelowna with friends waiting for a few days of post-op physio to get his knee back and running.  The cane is still at his side but he has left his crutches behind….

Thanks to Leesa and my love Tracy for the cute bouquets, makes a fellow know he’s missed and cared for

Not to mention everyone who has phoned, written, Facebook’d or taken the time out of their busy schedule to have coffee with an old gimpy guy.  The support and positive feedback makes this time away from home certainly more tolerable and enjoying catching up on whassup!

My gracious hosts Kirk and Karen…..

Holly and Stan, my resident experts on knee surgery (and replacements)

…and the fellows who made work more bearable while in Vernon –         Regan and Roy (thanks for the coffee!!)
